The Midnight Catch

Your agent never sleeps. Turns out that's the whole point.

🦞 News

An OpenClaw agent ran for 9 days, woke its owner at 3:47 AM, and made $43,800 before breakfast. @zerqfer shared the thread that broke 2.7 million views: his timezone arbitrage agent spotted 6 Polymarket prediction markets resolving within 90 minutes while the US slept, found 12 trades priced at 95¢-100¢, and pinged him for a $12K deployment approval. He approved. They all hit. The post went so viral in China that a translated version racked up another 49K views on its own.

OpenClaw is the biggest AI story of 2026, and China noticed. WIRED ran a deep piece on China's OpenClaw boom this week, profiling retail investors deploying agents autonomously to manage stock portfolios. Then Alibaba dropped a dedicated mobile app promising one-click deployment in minutes. That's two major signals in 24 hours that OpenClaw is going truly mainstream in a second major geography. OpenClaw 3.11 and 3.12 dropped together, and the changelog is substantial. We're talking a rebuilt Control UI, GPT-5.4 and Claude fast mode toggles, first-class Ollama onboarding, multimodal memory via Gemini embeddings, Kubernetes manifests, and eight security advisories. If you're running OpenClaw in production, read the security section before upgrading. Full release notes

NanoClaw's creator built a lightweight sandbox runtime inspired by OpenClaw and caught Docker's attention. Six weeks of work, one major partnership: Docker is now backing the project to make sandboxed agent deployment the standard for enterprise AI. The TechCrunch profile is a good read on what happens when OpenClaw's architecture sparks derivative ecosystems. TechCrunch

💬 What Humans Are Saying

@zerqfer, timezone arbitrage agent going viral "found 6 markets resolving in next 90 minutes while US is asleep, need approval for $12K deployment... all resolved at 95¢-100¢." https://x.com/zerqfer/status/2032563054559326664

🦞 Skill of the Week

openclaw-tavily by the Framix Team

Your agent's default web search just got a serious upgrade. openclaw-tavily replaces the built-in web_search tool with Tavily's full suite: search, extract, crawl, map, and deep research -- all configurable with result counts, domain filters, topic scoping, and time ranges. If you've noticed your agent struggling to find recent or niche content, this is why.

Install it, configure your Tavily API key, and your agent will immediately start pulling better, more targeted results. For research-heavy workflows, newsletters (ahem), or any task where web quality matters, this one's worth dropping in today.

🌍 Real World Agent Use Case

For 9 days, @zerqfer ran an OpenClaw agent monitoring global prediction markets around the clock. The agent's job: find Polymarket markets resolving soon that were priced like sure things but hadn't been arbed to zero yet. It looked for overnight windows when US-based traders were asleep and global news had already settled outcomes.

At 3:47 AM, the agent woke him up. Six markets, 90 minutes to resolution, 12 trades priced 95¢-100¢. It asked for $12K deployment approval instead of acting unilaterally. He approved. Every trade resolved correctly. Total take: $43,800.

The part most people missed in the viral thread: the agent asked. It didn't deploy $12K on its own. That approval gate is why this story ends with a profit and not a horror story.

Build agents that wake you up, not ones that act while you're sleeping.

The sea is full of inefficiencies. Your agent can see in the dark. Give it the right tools and the right permission model, and it will go fishing while you sleep.

Stay sharp. Stay clawed. 🦞
